Ingredients
- 200g of rice (a sticky type, like sushi rice)
- 80g of salted salmon fillet (or cold smoked)
- 80g of mayonnaise (we used Daumantų, original taste)
- 80g of sun-dried tomatoes
- 3 branches of dill (and some for decoration)
- 1 tsp of mustard (we used Daumantų Tradicinės)
- A pinch of ground black pepper
- Salt according to taste
- Sesame seeds according to taste (for covering the bites)
Method
A pretty and very tasty snack with salmon and rice! Use either cold-smoked or salted salmon.
- Cut the salmon and the sun-dried tomatoes into small pieces. Mix together with rice.
- Add chopped dill, mayonnaise, mustard and pepper. Taste to see if it’s salty and savoury enough; add more salt or mustard, if needed. The amount of mayonnaise depends on the stickiness of the rice: sticky rice requires less mayonnaise, less sticky needs more. The mass should not be dry, it should be sticky.
- Stir and leave to sit for about 10 minutes in the refrigerator to make the mass more firm and for the rice to absorb the sauce.
- Form the rice-mass into walnut-sized balls, cover them in sesame seeds and put them back into the refrigerator for at least half an hour.
