Ingredients
- 350g of semi-hard yellow cheese
- 250g of mayonnaise (we used Daumantų Karališkas, mild taste)
- 4 eggs (we used M size)
- 0,5 bunch of dill
Filling
- 260g of salmon fillet (skinless)
- 150g of cream cheese
- 50g of red paprika
- 0,5 bunch of dill
Method
This roll is not only colourful and beautiful, but also very tasty. You can substitute salmon with a different type of fish, such as trout.
- Roughly grate the cheese, mix it with the eggs, mayonnaise and chopped dill, and stir well.
- Spread the mass evenly on a baking tray lined with baking paper (rectangular, approx. 30-by-35 cm).
- Bake in an preheated oven at 180°C for about 7 min. (fan mode). Light yellow and soft when done; should not turn brown.
- For the filling, dice the salmon (in ~1.5-by-1.5 or 2-by-2 cm cubes). Mix together with cream cheese, chopped dill and finely grated paprika.
- Leave the cheese base to cool for 5–10 minutes at room temperature, then carefully remove it from the baking paper. If the baking paper sticks to the cheese, put a second piece of paper on top, flip it over and carefully remove the first paper.
- Spread the salmon mass on the cheese base, except for the edges.
- Roll it beginning with the shorter side. Place it on the baking tray lined with baking paper, wrap seam-side down.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (with fan) for 20–22 min. (do not bake longer to avoid overbaking the salmon).
- Remove from the oven and leave to harden for 10 minutes. Slice and serve. Can be served cold.
